Great. Now I've got that turtle image firmly embedded in my brain. Ew. Thaaaaanks. I think an aperitif can stimulate all kinds of appetites, I do love having cocktail hour to kick off a "date"!

Is it just me, or does everyone need a little liquid courage once in awhile? Do you find that alcohol improves your mood and enhances the sexual experience? Does it act like an aphrodisiac? Or are you one of the fortunate self-assured ones who doesn't need a drop of assistance to get you in the mood? Inquiring minds wanna know. I would love to find out who rolls their Rs better  As for your question, I am one of those fortunate self-assured ones who doesn't need a drop of assistance to get me in the mood. I am also the designated driver so pineapple juice is my only drink at the bar.

Jules, you and I should get together for a drink some evening. I'm usually the same me after one drink and I'll end up being silly(er) around the 3rd. But I rarely go there now. When the going gets weird, the weird turn pro. The only thing we have to fear is fear itself.

. . . when I was on a date, that first drink would serve more as liquid courage, calming any nervous jitters if I knew I'd be getting naked. Fun post, Jules. It prompts two recollections from me. First is the realization that nearly every man wonders whether a date with a woman he lusts after will lead to getting naked with her for the first time. While - very often - while the man is wondering, the woman already KNOWS. Makes me wonder about the dynamic between two lesbians on a date . . . but I digress - grin. Second recollection is back to my sorta clueless freshman year of college, in the days when the legal age for alcohol consumption was 18. It didn't take a genius to realize that plying a female with alcohol was a good way to boost her liquid courage - as you put it. What it DID take - for me - was two separate unfortunate experiences involving so much liquid courage being given, that my date . . . different woman each time . . . felt compelled to hurl the contents of her stomach out my dorm-room window. No (further) need to kiss ensued - at least not either of those particular dates. Sorta emphatically spoiled the mood each time. I did learn the needed lesson about moderation after the second epic fail. I never again/since, had a date imbibe so much liquid courage that she fouled-out (so to speak) of the very fun kissing game that followed a bit of alcohol.

I much prefer to retain full use of my faculties.......I want my nerve endings to enjoy every tiny electrical charge that passes between those lovely lips.......so nothing alcoholic for me. There's also something intangibly tantalising about that nervous anticipation that alcohol might dull down a little for me. On the other hand, a wee dram while enjoying the afterglow, curled up with my girl in front of a roaring fire.....aye, that'll dae nicely McJules!

Jules, Kissing is very important in my humble opinion. I am a sensual man by nature and the way a woman kisses can be a deal breaker. Alcohol in moderation is nice way to relax and loosen inhibitions, in excess it inhibits erections

Wonderful post Bella. I have to admit that I am not much of a drinker and definitely have never needed any liquid courage to drop any inhibitions. Hell, any inhibitions I may have are quickly dispelled the minute our lips touch. I am with you, kissing is so important. Before, I found that perfect kissing partner, I had forgotten how exciting kissing could be. I will say, on those occasions when I do find myself drinking a bit, the mind does tend to wonder and questions of the kind of lover a particular might be does creep into my mind. Does she enjoy oral sex? Does she enjoy anal? Has she ever been with another woman? Yes, sex is definitely on the brain even more when I have downed a couple Coronas. Extensive research has determined that 1.43 glasses of red wine in my system will result in my saying fuck it and kissing a woman with infinitely more passion than without said wine. Proper time and place of course; most definitely not the frozen food aisle. Anyway, pulses race, breathing becomes more rapid, and a good time is had by all. That being said, kissing sans vino is incredibly enjoyable as well; it's just better with.

The funny thing that popped into my head was thinking of the women that were kissing guys with sloppy long beards and ones that drank too much rum...like kissing a pirate.  For myself, I really don’t need alcohol to enjoy kissing a woman’s soft lips. A small bit of wine before sex is good for me though. On a funny note, me and a former girlfriend had bacon before enjoying ourselves in bed. 🥓 Funny women are incredibly sexy!

...lol,... thoroughly enjoyed this post and the ensuing discussion.... .....on point, although I do enjoy a bit of merlot here and there, when it comes to kissing stone cold sober is the best.... the kisses, if shared properly (and it is a mandatory shared experience) the kisses themselves can be intoxicating..... a feeling just takes over and you totally get lost in the passionate embrace..... and all this can take place with all hands on deck above the neck...... from my teens has always been the case..... and with a passionate kisser as a partner, well let's just say I have to believe that it's better than any drug.... and those partners ..... they are the ones that perhaps are worth more exploration..... ....carpe diem.....

For me the perfect kiss is the most enjoyable, la carte, sin assaisonnement, but I have been told that I do have a few tells when drinking Tequila, like enhanced dance moves and licking peoples necks.
